An emotional response is the only thing in any improv scene that can be shown in full on stage- everything else is constrained by the fundamental nature of what improv is.
Therefore, as performers, it is in our best interest to make emotional responses the foundations of our scene work. This workshop will work on gaining practical techniques of emotional truthfulness and heightening of game. We will be taking comedic ideas to the next level by raising the emotional stakes and reacting not as we the improviser would on stage, but how the character -with their own life experience up until this moment-would react. We will also find new ways to set up our scene partners to elicit a desired emotional response, and therefore heightening the game of the scene.
